Coaching: Coaching is the process of creating relationships and developing partnerships with clients to
inspire and support them to reach their maximum personal or professional potential. By asking the right heart-centered, body-oriented questions, a coach inspires creative thinking in their clients so they can discover the answers they’re seeking within themselves.
What is the role of the coach? A coach is an individual who has trained themselves to be fully present with their clients, actively listening to what is and IS NOT being said. They utilize the power of mindset and possibility to guide their clients to get to where they want to be. A coach is a trusted partner and confidant, leading by paying close attention to what matters to their clients.
A coach is NOT a therapist, teacher, adviser, or consultant, which means coaching is NOT a replacement for therapy. Coaches do not give advice, they lead clients to discover their own answers by asking questions, assisting as you create a plan to achieve your goals.
What is the role of the client? As a client, you are viewed as creative, capable, and complete– you can overcome any perceived limitations, you’re able to take the necessary actions to achieve your goals, and you are not broken. As a client, you are responsible for your results, choices, and actions. It is your responsibility to care for your physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs. So while your coach will always have your best intentions in mind, you are ultimately responsible for yourself in the relationship.
What is expected of the coach? You can expect your coach to form a partnership based on what matters most to you. They will show up to really listen, so they fully see, hear, and feel you. Your coach will show that they CARE by honoring confidentiality, attention, respect, and engaging with you. While your coach may brainstorm with you to find a solution, they are not going to give you advice or tell you what to do. They’ll hold you accountable, but they will not do the work for you. Your coach will share their observations with you, but they will make no diagnoses or treatment plans of any kind as this is outside the scope of the coaching relationship.
What is expected of a client? As a client, you are expected to be real, honest, and vulnerable during your sessions to ensure you get the maximum benefit of each session. You’re expected to be on-tim and ready to go for each session, and be willing to take action on what matters to you.
While it’s understandable that life happens, you’re expected to reschedule or cancel a session at least 24 hours before your scheduled session to honor everyone’s time. It’s also understandable that you may be balancing your life, and your full presence is expected during each session. Make sure you’re in a distraction-free environment for your coaching sessions.
Lastly, you are expected to CARE as well, honoring confidentiality, attention, respect, and engaging with your coach.
